OK, I can hear you now. “What? A Christmas party?” Let me explain.
Possibly you don’t realize that Humanism is not a religion, it is a philosophy. Humanists are not anti-Christmas. Many people celebrate the holiday season in different ways. Some will buy gifts to share, others will go to musical events, and others will go to church. It is not for us to judge how others celebrate. The important thing is we do celebrate in whatever way is right for us and share that joy with our community.
We will have our Christmas party at the Stine Barn on December 12th starting at 6:30pm. Many of us grew up singing Christmas carols, so we invited two musicians to lead us in song (both secular and non-secular). It is our hope that singing together will bring back pleasant memories of times past. We are not viewing songs as a statement of any belief system; they are just fun and nostalgic.
Listed below are what we’d like to share at the party:
Just a reminder, all our Humanist Society memberships expire at the end of December. So, in the interest of efficiency when you sign up for the party (we need a head count) please sign up and pay your $15 or $25 membership for 2026. We use these funds to maintain our communications (email, web page, forms), and fund event costs throughout the year. With membership comes Humanist announcements via e-mail and other items not available to the public.
Please click this link to sign up for the party so we have the correct head count
Have a very merry holiday season (whatever that might be)!
P.S.
If you are not familiar with Humanism’s 10 commandments (which you can find at this link) maybe a quick review would be helpful.
